Mel, 95, of Turlock has passed away. Mel was born and raised in Hobart, Tasmania Australia. He was a veteran of World War Two serving the Australian Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post 88 of Turlock. Mel was an Author and an amazing poet. 

He began acting in Australia and upon coming to the U.S. he continued to have a long career as a professional stage actor. Later toward retirement years he gave much entertainment in Community Theater of Sonora, Modesto and Turlock. 

Mel had a gregarious personality, amazing sense of humor and wit (like no other) which will constantly be remembered. Mel loved life and really did do it “his way”. He is survived by his wife Mary of Turlock and his 4 children. 

Caroline Richard – Australia, Glen Richard (Becky) – El Dorado Hills, Kelly Montgomery (Marc) – Montana, Sandy Richard – Sacramento, 5 grandchildren – Ashley, Alyssa, Marco, Enzo and Louisa, also numerous great grandchildren. Remembrance of his life will be privately shared by families. 

In honor of Mel’s life, contributions may be given to Community Hospice, located at 4368 Spyers Way, Modesto, 95356, for whom we’re so appreciative for all the comfort they gave to him and the families.
