Oneta Hager

"Oneta" B. Hager, 90 passed away from a lingering illness on the morning of December 30, 2011 in Turlock, CA. She was born to John and Maudie Barton in Rush Springs, OK March 21, 1921. Oneta, her husband, and her small child "hitch-hiked" from Marlow, OK to Woodville, CA. in 1940. She has resided in Turlock since 1955.

Oneta was co-owner of Oneta's Home Bakery in Turlock and later in Patterson, CA from 1955-1966. Upon leaving the bakery business she went back to school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She worked at both Community and Emanuel Hospitals as a nurse for approximately 13 years until an injury left her disabled. She attended Bethel Temple (Harvest Christian Center) from 1955 until her health would no longer allow it.

There she was Sponsor and Coordinator of Missionette's as well as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a past President and Board Member of "New Hope College", a Fund-Raiser for the Volunteer Center of Modesto, and a past member of the L.V.N. League. Oneta was an advocate for Assembly Bill 2214 and instrumental in it's signing into law on 9/29/1987. AB 2214 provides additional aid/support of Foster Children. She was a member of National P.T.A., and A.R.P.

Her survivors include daughters, Myra (Delbert) Larson and Katrina (Randy) Boyd, a son, Ben (Judy) Hager all of Turlock, daughters-in-law Armella Megerle of Chino Hills, CA and Carole Hager of Gillette, WY, Michelle Hager of Bellingham, WA, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 19 great, great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents John & Maudie Barton, her husband, E.E.(Al) Hager, her sons, James E. Megerle, John E. Hager, Larry J. Hager, her daughter-in law Gladys Enos Hager, 1 brother, 4 sisters, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to Hospice of Emanuel, P.O. Box 819005, Turlock, CA 95381, the Children's Ministries of Harvest Christian Center, 225 4th St., Turlock, CA 95380, or the Charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 13th, 2012 at Turlock Funeral Home located at 425 Soderquist Rd. Turlock. A Service will be held at Turlock Funeral Home Chapel, by Rev. Paul Fliflet on January 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Internment to follow at Turlock Park Memorial. Please leave your condolences at www.TurlockMemorialPark.com
