Patricia (Pat) Knapp, 78, of Turlock, passed into God’s loving and faithful embrace at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. She was born at Turlock’s Emanuel Hospital. Pat will be remembered for her beautiful, caring, compassionate spirit. It was her dream to become a nurse and, after poring herself into her family, she started college and completed college and fulfilled her dream by becoming a Registered Nurse. Pat was an RN who compassionately cared for others for 20 years at Emanuel Hospital.
Married to the love of her life for 60 years, together they were whole. They enjoyed extensive traveling in their motor home and the company of their wonderful friends. Pat was an active member of First United Methodist Church including the Knitting and Reading Groups. She appreciated God’s creation and loved hiking with the Mountain Mamas. She hiked the Grand Canyon twice including a hike to the bottom of the canyon when she was 60 years old. More recently she went zip-lining in Hawaii! Pat was a willing and compassionate listener and mentor. She was a faithful fan of all her grandkids’ sporting events. She was always in the stands supporting them from the time they began playing and on through college. She inspired many as she bravely fought the rigors of ALS disease that took her life too soon.
Pat is survived by her husband Howard Knapp, two children Dave (Sharon) Knapp of Denair, and Sandy (Rick) Howard of Los Banos; brother Don Taylor of Emmett, Idaho, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at First United Methodist Church of Turlock on Sat, Jan 25th at 10:30 am. Memorial contributions are welcomed for the ALS Golden West Chapter in Fresno or Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
