Paul Fernandes, 71, of Denair, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness. Paul was born in Stockton California to Antone and Cecelia Fernandes. He attended Modesto Schools and graduated from Downey High School. Paul was married for 29 years to Gloria Azevedo of Hughson and had two children, Paul and Paula. 

Paul worked for years as a bus driver and parts manager for the Modesto City Schools. Later he was an independent Truck Driver hauling ocean containers for Ted Peters Trucking. Paul was active in his community as a 4H leader in Ceres and a past member of Ceres Kiwanis.

  Paul was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children: Paul Jr. and Cindy Fernandes of Turlock, Paula and Antonio Aguiar of Hughson; 3 brothers: Tony Jr. and Beatrice Fernandes of Ripon, Mickey and Katherine Fernandes of Modesto, David and Pam Fernandes of Algonquin, IL, and one sister: Rosemary and Fred Carpenter of Modesto, and six grandchildren: Kayla, Angela and Noah Fernandes and Juliana, Christian and Sophia Aguiar. 

  Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 27th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Assumption Church small church, 2602 South Walnut, Turlock CA 95380. Private burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
