Visitation for Randy Feathers, 73, of Denair, will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 13 at Allen Mortuary. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. July 14 at Lakewood Memorial Park. Randy passed away at Emanuel Medical Center with his family by his side.
Randy was born in Oklahoma to Buford and Adeline Feathers. In 1949, at the age of 13, Randy’s family moved to California and settled in Hughson. Randy graduated from Hughson High. Soon after, in 1957, Randy met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Joan Nielson. Six months later, they were married, and have shared 52 loving years together. Together they raised two wonderful children.
Randy was an avid fisherman. He and Joan have many fishing stories to share. Randy’s love for his family was indescribable; he and Joan where always together, even forging across the country once to attend the country’s largest swap meet. Randy was also a member of NASCAR. He built race cars for 30 years. He was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene in Denair. For nine years he drove the church bus, providing much needed transportation to and from worship services and church events.
Randy was a gracious man and he never met a stranger he didn’t call friend. His laughter and sense of humor was infectious, and would fill a room. Even during the struggles with his health, he still found the strength to make the people around him laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family, and by a community of friends.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Joan Feathers of Denair; son, Randolph Feathers Jr. of Turlock; daughter, Diann M. Feathers of San Diego; mother, Adeline Feathers of Hughson; siblings, Roger (Margie) Feathers of Denair, Larry (Barbara) Feathers of Loomis, Calif., and Stanley (Barbara) Feathers of Turlock; and grandson, Jason Feathers.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, Buford Feathers.
The Feathers family would like to make a special thank you to the Denair Fire Department for their kindness and support over the years, and asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Denair Volunteer Fire Dept., 3918 N. Gratton Rd., Denair, CA 95316.
