Renie (Elmquist) Bergstrom, 72, passed away on December 27, 2016 at home in Redding, CA in the presence of her family from complications of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Born July 16, 1944 in Hilmar, California to Orville & Neomi Elmquist, Renie grew up attending Hilmar Covenant Church and Hilmar schools, graduating from Hilmar HS in 1962. She married Dick Bergstrom of Turlock, CA on September 11, 1965 and they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2016. Dick and Renie lived in Turlock, Lancaster, and Santa Barbara, retired to Grass Valley, and recently moved to Redding. Renie was actively involved in raising her boys, Dan & Darin, and involved in their sports and activities, in addition to volunteering with the Assistance League in Lancaster. After working in pharmacies and clothing stores, she worked for many years as a receptionist at General Research Corporation in Santa Barbara. Renie enjoyed camping, water skiing, traveling, taking pictures, decorating their home and entertaining guests, as well as making memories with her four grandkids: Emily, Matthew, Ellie and Kailee. Christmastime was her favorite and she faithfully remembered everyone’s birthday with a greeting card.
Renie was preceded in death by her parents and older brother Wally and is survived by her husband Dick, her sons Dan (Cari) of Lompoc, CA and Darin (Sarah) of Redding, CA, four grandchildren and her sisters Carolyn (Jim) Brown and Gini (Claude) Gunsch.
A memorial service will be held at Hilmar Covenant Church, 20056 American Ave. in Hilmar on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 am with a reception following immediately. Private interment will take place at Hilmar North Cemetery.
