Last Wednesday evening, Turlock historian, Robert H. Brown, “Bob”, passed on to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. We just celebrated his 95th birthday on August 11th. He was a Veteran of WW2, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Philippine Islands as pioneer radar and radio technician, enlisting after Pearl Harbor.  He was also responsible for the first school and stadium sound system installation at Turlock High School. He worked directly with his mentor: principal Mr. John Pitman. Bob was an active member, sound engineer, Sunday School teacher, superintendent of Jr. High SS and scout master at Bethel Temple, in Turlock for nearly fifty years. He worked for Pacific Bell nearly forty years, advancing to lead installation and repair technician of PBX Complex systems. Bob was a devoted husband to Phyllis Brown, and father to Robert Brown & Darlene Cowart, grandfather to David Brown, Kimberly Brown, Kelley Brown, and Daniel Cowart. Great grandchildren include, Madelyn Vezina, Cody Vezina, Alex Martinez, and Christina Torrez.

He worked tirelessly with Scott Atherton and others collecting photographs and writing Turlock’s history. His collection has been lovingly passed on to them.

He will be missed. We, who have trusted in Jesus for salvation from our sins, look forward to being reunited one day.

His memorial service will be held this Friday at 1:00, at Turlock Memorial Park chapel, 575 N. Soderquist Rd, Turlock

Viewing is Thursday evening from 5:00 to

8:00 pm.
