Our beloved Uncle Bob passed away February 6, 2017 at the age of 91 after a short illness. With much joy and a shout of “welcome home,” he was greeted into Heaven by his Father God, parents Melvin and Beth Horine, sisters Annetta Cochran, June Thomson, Shirley Hill and nephew Dennis Cochran.

Bob was born in Turlock, California and raised in Denair, California. Following his graduation from Denair High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard where he was honorably discharged in 1946. Uncle Bob then chose to expand his education at both City College of San Francisco and State College of Washington graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hotel Administration. He then enjoyed satisfying his passion for travel by experiencing firsthand the sights and sounds of over 18 countries.

Bob then settled in San Francisco for the next 33 years where he worked at Treasure Island serving in the Merchant Marines. At the same time, he successfully applied his talents and education in Hotel Administration throughout the San Francisco in various aspects of property management and restoration. Upon retirement, Uncle Bob continued his love of property renovation and restoration in San Diego and Hawaii, returning to Turlock in 1999, where he lived until his death.

Throughout his life, Bob’s passion and joy included landscaping, renovation and restoration of property, the arts, travel and entertaining his family and many friends. He loved creating beauty whether it was tangible or intangible.

Our beloved Uncle is survived by his nephew Clare Cochran (Denair, CA), nieces Judy Allen (Turlock, CA), Kathie Wright (Delano, CA), Wendy King (Hilmar, CA) and his numerous great AND great-great nieces and nephews.

Robert T. Horine’s life was accurately summarized recently by Pastor Joseph Wright, “Uncle Bob was a man of honor, who had love in his heart. Throughout his life he extended that love by helping others, no matter who they were.”

Private services have been held with burial at Denair Cemetery.
