Turlock resident Rubie L. Johnson passed away Friday, March 7, in Hughson. She was born in Turlock, December 16, 1920 to August and Louisa Johnson, the youngest of four children. Rubie graduated from Turlock High School in 1939 and moved to San Francisco to live with her sister, Astrid Oliver. She loved San Francisco and stayed there most of her life, working as a secretary for Met Life Insurance for 38 years, before moving back to Turlock in 2005. 

Rubie is preceded in death by her parents, August and Louisa Johnson, and siblings, Gunnar Johnson, Martha Knapp, and Astrid Oliver. She is survived by her nephews Arthur Knapp, Robert Knapp, Howard Knapp, and LeRoy Knapp.

The family would like to recognize and thank the warm staff at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, who cared for Rubie in her final days, especially Chaplain Charlie Crane, who comforted her with songs. They would also like to notice the kind nurses, particularly Peggy, at Emanuel Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., in Turlock.
