A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sam Wayne Reynolds, 69, will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 at Turlock Funeral Home Chapel, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A luncheon will be provided after the service to visit and share memories at 12 p.m. Aug. 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2618 Fine Ave., Modesto. Sam passed away after a long illness on July 31 in Modesto at Memorial Medical Center with his family by his side.  
Sam was born on Jan. 15, 1940, in Idabel, Okla. to William and Anna Mae Reynolds. Sam moved to California with his family in 1953. He was a graduate of Hughson High School. Sam married Dona K. Rider in 1964, and they had three children: Angela A. Reynolds, Kirk Reynolds and Tanna Reynolds. Sam worked for Rainbo Bread in Modesto for 30 years. He was active in the Teamsters’ Union and served as an officer for many years. His interests included music, fishing, family campouts and vacations, and the classical cinema. Sam always enjoyed cooking for his family; he specialized in scrumptious breakfasts. Later in life, he most enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Dustin Lohrmann and Dallis Richardson, who knew him as “Opa.”  Sam also leaves behind his oldest brother, Kenneth Earl Reynolds of Mangum, Okla.; and his sister, Ruth Ann Chapman of Fairfield, Calif.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Finnis Reynolds, Bill Junior Reynolds, Thurman Reynolds and Herman Reynolds.
Kenneth said that if his little brother, Sammy, ever saw someone without a smile, he’d give the person one of his. Sam will be missed.
