Sharon Matson

Sharon Matson was born May 5, 1943 in San Francisco, CA to Eldon and Ruth (Dargitz) Challberg.  Sharon attended schools in Turlock, with a brief stint at East Bakersfield High, graduating in 1961 from Turlock High School.
Sharon met the love of her life and lifelong best friend, Noel Matson whom she married on August 18, 1961.  They moved to the Bay Area where they started their journey together and welcomed their daughters Erin and Amy.  While living in the Bay Area Sharon worked at Milans Jewelers.  They returned to Turlock where she was employed for 33 years, with the Turlock School District. Her talents with the computer were known far and wide.
Sharon was a Majority member of Jobs Daughters Bethel 81, which led the way to her continued involvement as both daughters went through the chairs to become Honored Queens.  Sharon was a cheerleader at East Bakersfield High, and an active member of the Turlock High Class of 1961 reunion committee. She enjoyed the companionship of her closest girlfriends who joined her at many out of town revelries and gambling.
Her life was filled with family vacations in Kauai, Avila Beach, Costa Rica and the latest vacation in Santa Cruz.  She and Noel also enjoyed cruising the world. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren hosting large family parties.   The most memorable party she and Noel hosted was their 50th Wedding Anniversary in August of 2011.
Predeceasing her were her father, Eldon Challberg, her step-father Don Dargitz and her husband Noel.
Survivors include her daughters Erin (Gary) Youngdale and Amy (Steve) Alvares. and her grandchildren Lauren and Bryce Youngdale and Ethan and Evyn Alvares; her mother Ruth Dargitz and many loving family and friends.
Sharon’s infectious personality was dearly loved by her family, friends and all who knew her.  She has begun her new journey with her soul mate Noel, in paradise.
Memorial services will be held at The Turlock Funeral Home Chapel, at 1:00 p.m., on April 10th. Donations can be made, in Sharon’s memory, to the Shriner’s Hospital, 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817.
