Sherman was born Nov. 5, 1926 to Roy and Agnes Walner.  He lived most of his life in Turlock.  Sherman proudly served in the US Navy from Feb. 1944 to May 1946 as a motor machinist.  He loved his plants and animals, especially his faithful dog Mindy.  He loved people and always enjoyed the big dinners at home; there was always room for one more.  He enjoyed deep sea fishing, camping and being at home.

He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as deacon, serving communion every Sunday until he was unable to do so; he loved to serve coffee in the social hall.  Sherman was always ready to help someone.  He retired from Banquet Foods as a forklift driver.  He belonged to VFW Post #5059, American Legion, Senior Citizens, Turlock Pleasure Seekers, Moose Lodge and Class of 44.

Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Ruth Walner; children Eddie (Rosie), Lorene (Dave), Barbara (Jamie), Zena and Lisa (Chris); sister Karen (Myron) Carlson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.  He is preceded in death by his parents; son Roy Walner; and first wife Earlene.
