Shirly Hulbert passed away on July 3. She will always be remembered by her riding buddies and missed by her family, friends and USDA co-workers. Shirly worked as a slaughter inspector for the USDA for 25 years in the red-meat plants in Modesto. She graduated from Live Oaks High School in Morgan Hill. She was a generous and cool mother, a dutiful yet ornery daughter, but most of all a true friend to those who knew her. Her sense of humor was one of the many things, besides stubbornness, that she passed on to her children. She was a devoted Redskins fan. She thoroughly enjoyed riding her Harley and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Shirly is survived by her mother, Virginia Shields; her best friend/sister, Loretta; her two children, Dane Hulbert and Danette (Bud) Sounders; grandchildren, Moe, Steph, Roni, Yo, Dallas, Justin, Josh and Jake; and great grandchildren, Dylan, Alexis, Nicholas, Richard and George.
There will be a memorial service held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 11 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380. The reception will be announced at the memorial.
Allen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Please share your memories at www.allenmortuary.com.
