Tomiye (Tomi) Hamaguchi was born on December 16, 1925, in Mountain View, CA, to Kisaburo and Teru Tsujihara.  She attended various schools in Merced and Colorado, followed by a year of sewing school in San Francisco.   She married Ken Hamaguchi in 1949 and farmed in Livingston until they moved to Atwater in 1986.  Tomi passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2015.

Tomi and Ken raised five daughters in Livingston and were actively involved in their school and church activities.   Tomi returned to work as an administrative secretary for Merced County Office of Education and Livingston School District for over twenty years.  After retiring, Tomi spent her time attending her grandchildren’s sports and school events, reading, gardening, playing board and card games, and conversing on the phone with her friends and family.  

Survivors include her daughters Sandra Hocker (Andrew), Linda Kida (Dan), Vicki Woods (Donald), and Shelley Kulm (Dwayne).  She is also survived by her younger brother, Jim, of Petaluma, CA, ten grandchildren, and six great -grandchildren.   Tomi was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Hamaguchi; four sisters, four brothers and  daughter, Debra.   

Memorial service will be private.  Tomi requested that any contributions be made to Livingston United Methodist Church in Livingston, CA or to Hinds Hospice in Merced.
