Vearl “Bud” Bawden, 98, of Turlock, passed away at Evergreen Nursing and Rehab in Modesto on Saturday. 
He was born in Nora, Ill. in 1912 to Alonzo and Laura Bawden.  His family moved to El Monte where they owned a walnut orchard.  A Naval veteran of WWII, he was a baker by trade, and at one time owned Bawden Pastries. He moved to Stockton in 1989, and settled in Turlock in 1994, where he was a member of Calvary Baptist. He enjoyed watching sports, but most of all; he loved spending time with his family. God, family, and helping others were his life.
Bud is survived by his children, Karen Mendez of El Monte, Sandy Fulton of Turlock and Steven Steiner of Reseda; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six siblings, and his wife, Lillian Bawden.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30 at Allen Mortuary. Services will be at11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1 at Allen Mortuary. A private burial will be at Byron Cemetery in Brentwood, Calif.
