Velda Marie Chennault Simar was 75 years old when she passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015, while in the care of the kind and capable staff at St. Mary’s hospital in Reno, Nevada. 

Velda was born on April 14, 1940 in Hobart, Oklahoma to James and Laura Chennault. She grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma with 6 siblings. It was there where she met and married Dean Simar, her husband of over 58 years. The newly married couple resided in Californa, where all five of their children were born before settling in Reno, Nevada to raise their family.

Velda enjoyed many activities with her children, including coaching little league, bowling, leading a girl scout troop, gardening and shopping.  She also enjoyed yearly vacations with her young family, and later she and her husband traveled throughout the United States extensively.  

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Her husband, Dean Simar, her five Children, Deana, Rodney, Dianna, Randy, and Darla and 7 grandchildren, and two beloved rescued cats survive her.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Nevada Humane Society are greatly appreciated.

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 3:00-7:00p.m.  Graveside service will be held at Denair Cemetery on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00a.m.
