Violet was born in Idaho Falls, ID and moved to Arkansas as an infant where she spent her childhood before settling in California at the age of 13. On December 15, 1951 she married William “Pat” McLaughlin. She and Pat worked and lived in the Turlock and Denair areas for many years where she worked on the dairy and also for a hatchery. She enjoyed caring for her husband and four children and always treasured time spent with family. Violet worked for many years at Emanuel Medical Center until her retirement. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her dear friends at Country Squire Estates. Her hobbies included puzzles, embroidery, going to yard sales, gardening and playing bingo. 

She is survived by her children Lorraine (Jon) Stout of Turlock, Dwayne (Carla) McLaughlin of Denair, Debra (James) Sylvia of Denair and Patricia Cox of Turlock; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her husband Pat McLaughlin in 1995; parents Leo and Edna Chappell and siblings Marvin Henley Chappell and Dora Hill. 

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to SPCA. 

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 3:00-7:00p.m. Graveside service will be at Lakewood Memorial Park on Friday, April 17th at 10:30a.m. with reception to follow at Country Squire Estates in Denair.
