Virgil Howell, 72, of Turlock passed away at home on Sunday, June 26. He was born in Merced to Clint and Elinor Howell in 1939. Virgil was raised in Stockton and lived his life in Stockton, Hayward and Turlock. He worked for UPS and FEDEX and finished his career at Elness Convalescent Hospital.
Virgil enjoyed golfing, taking trips to Reno, scratchers and going to the Almond Tree in Turlock. He was an avid fan of the 49ers and the Giants.
He is survived by his children, Gil Howell of Turlock, John Howell of Albuquerque, N.M. and Steven Howell of Ione, Calif.; brother, Larry Howell; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Howell; and grandchild, Bethany Howell.
Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at Allen Mortuary at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 9.
