Walter Overby, age 69, of Turlock, California passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. He was born in Oklahoma and raised in Oakdale since the age of seven. After he graduated Oakdale High School he worked for Likit Windows in Hayward. He met Betty Barnes in 1963 and they got married March 21, 1964 in Turlock. They moved to Modesto in 1969 and had their son Greg. He retired as a truck driver from Nulaid Foods after 20 years. They settled in Turlock in 1984. He enjoyed every outdoor activity especially roping. He is survived by his loving wife Betty of Turlock, son Gregory Overby of Turlock, siblings, Maebelle Brennan of Oakdale, Juanice Garcia of Modesto, Donnie Coronado of Modesto, Lucy and husband Dennis Turner of La Grange, and Patsy and husband Frank Morrell of Discovery Bay, CA. Walt is preceded in death by five siblings. Visitation will be held from 3pm - 7pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Allen Mortuary. Funeral Services will begin at 3pm on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Allen Mortuary. A private interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park at a later date.
