Wanda Wickering, 84, passed away at home on Saturday.
She was born and raised in Coleman County, Texas to Johnny and Beryl Shamblin.  After graduating high school, she ventured to the Dallas/Fortworth area in 1943 where she worked assembling WWII fighter planes and met her husband John Wickering.  In 1945, they migrated out to California, settling in the Pleasanton/Livermore area, where they explored many different business opportunities and started a family.  In 1963, they came to Turlock and made their final home of 47 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Women’s Golf Association; winning many championship trophies and recognition.  She also loved to sew and owned her own fabric shop on Lander near Youngdales called Wanda’s Fashion Fabrics.  She loved her home, gardening and canning.  She had two daughters and six grandchildren and she taught them all to play golf.
Wanda is survived by her children, Linda (Bruce) Challberg of Denair and Cathy Woodall of Turlock; sister, Arvella England of TX; grandchildren, Steven Challberg, Andrew Challberg, Noah Challberg, Connor McDaniel, Kyle McDaniel and Randee Woodall; niece Sheron Kapler (England) of TX.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband John Wickering.
We will miss you dearly.  Your honesty, straightforward talk and telling it like it is! Bless your heart, we love you.
