Wayne Bergman passed away on Feb. 21, 2016 at the age of 87 after a sh

ort illness.

He was born March 11, 1928, and spent his childhood in Turlock. He married Lois Peterson in 1951, and shortly thereafter joined the Air Force at Parks Air Force Base in Livermore, CA where he taught military law for four years. He graduated with a BA from the University of Pacific in Stockton and then went on to receive a Master’s Degree from Fresno State in 1956. He taught for Fresno Unified School District for 32 years, after which he was employed by Fresno State for 10 years as a supervisor for student teachers. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Lois in 1993; as well as his second wife Juanita in 2013.

He is survived by his three children, Roger Bergman and wife Jocelyn of Fresno, Craig Bergman and wife Janea of San Francisco, and Jill Bergman and husband Brady of Missoula, Montana, along with six grandchildren, Michael, Phillip, Amanda, Emma, Lauren and Alec. He is also survived by Juanita’s daughters, Katelyn Haynes and her husband John, and Terry Rohlfes and her husband Greg along with their families. 

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at The Bridge Church, 3438 East Ashlan Ave., Fresno.
