William (Bill) Leonard Bodin passed away peacefully at home in Edmonds, WA. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Ana (Nucha), his son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Erin.
Bill was born in Nampa, ID, to Leonard and Wilma Bodin and grew up in Turlock, CA. He attended Lowell Grammar School and graduated from Turlock High School in 1960.
After high school, he moved to Berkeley and attended Berkeley Community College until he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served in Radio Communications.
Upon completing his military service, Bill explored Europe, including Sweden, the birthplace of his paternal grandmother, Freida Bodin. After Sweden and other European countries, he ventured to Africa, often exploring on foot. He lived and worked in the Central African Republic, earning the nickname “the American who could fix anything.”
Bill had a rewarding career in the telecommunications industry, for which he took great pride. He worked across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico until his well-deserved retirement.
While he loved his work and traveling, nothing was more important to Bill than his family and his role as a husband and father. He cherished his wife, Nucha, whom he had met in Portugal, as well as his son, Christopher, and his daughter, Susan.
Bill is survived by his wife Nucha, his son Christopher, and daughter-in-law Erin; his sister Betty Viorel and her husband George; his niece Kathy Willingham and her husband David, along with their children Spencer Nolan and Collin Willingham; his nephew Bradley William Millard and his wife Carol, along with their children Bradley A. Millard and Cortney Millard; and his grandniece Kora Millard.
