Long time Turlock resident Wilma Evelyn Young passed away Sunday, June 16. She was born April 27, 1924 to Benjamin Franklin and Eva (Chewning) Irvan in Horatio, Arkansas.
Evelyn moved to Turlock in 1953, with her husband, Wesley, and their children. She worked for the Puccinelli Packing Plant for 9 years. She also worked many years as a housekeeper for several Turlock families until she was 82. Evelyn enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, and working in her yard. Many hours were spent watching the hummingbirds come to their feeders.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Jesse, Johnny, Bunder, Red, Buck, Leonard, and Russell, and her sisters, Trilby, Violet, Bob, Rachel, Frankie, Verna, and Della. She is survived by her sister, Sybel Young, and her children, Bonnie (Lloyd) Reynolds of Carmichael, Ron (Wilma) Young of Turlock, Sheryl Reese of Modesto, and Terisa (Mitch) Logsdon of Turlock. Evelyn was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank Brandel’s staff for the care they gave to their mother. Per Evelyn’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
