Dear Editor:

Councilman Forrest White in Turlock recently donated $500 to the Turlock Gospel Mission for their homeless shelter project. He challenged others to do the same. Councilman White should be highly commended for his actions. It shows that he has become highly aware of the needs of this community and has taken a step to fill that need.

At the time of the Stanislaus State University and the City’s survey it was estimated that there were 300 to 400 homeless people. At present there is probably every bit of that.

Forrest White has pointed the city in the right direction.
