Increase in regional bus fares will have negative impact on those who need public transit the most
Placeholder Image

The new proposed changes to the BLAST Transit will result in decreased ridership and revenue; creating a hardship for those who depend on public bus services to go to the library, doctors, hospital, schools, do necessary shopping and go to work or school.

The expensive proposal for changing how fares are collected is unnecessary because the current system is working well. Increased ridership and revenue would be mean more buses for shorter routes, expanded shopping and restaurant opportunities, more bus stops with shorter distances between stops and last, but not least, covered benches.

It is difficult to impossible for handicapped and seniors to walk and stand for long periods in the host sun, wind and rain. We need and appreciate the bus services we have, so please don't reduce what we currently have.
