We need to remember

Thank you so much for bringing the sad fact that there are no Sept. 11 remembrance events held in town to the attention of the citizens of Turlock. For years I have been asking why the schools have done nothing on the anniversary of 9-11 every year. For the first couple of years I even tried calling my sons’ school (Pitman) and told them how disappointed I was and asked them to please consider changing their “same as any other day” attitude.
Maybe, just maybe, your Sept. 5 article “Have you forgotten?” might stir up some interest and this day can at the very least be given a few minutes of silence for the people who died on that fateful day and for all the men and women who continue to serve this country in order to protect our freedoms.
