Former Pitman High track and field standout Nick Jackson helped Modesto Junior College win big at the recent Big 8 Conference Championships, as he landed a mark of 45 feet, 11 inches in the triple jump to place second in the event.

It was enough for the Pirates to snag their first conference title.

After graduating from Pitman last year, Jackson has been a key part of MJC's success this season. He looks to extend his good streak at Friday's Northern California Championships at American River College in Sacramento and qualify for next week's state meet.

“Nick has been a very clutch performer all year,” MJC coach Demitrius Snaer said. “He always seems to perform well at the big meets. We would love to see him continue this trend on Friday and qualify for the state meet next week. He has worked hard all season and deserves it.”
