Six Warriors named to All-CCAA baseball teams

Seniors Eli Davis and Joe Medeiros lead the list of Warriors on the 2012 All-CCAA Baseball team as the announcement was made by the California Collegiate Athletic Association this week.
Also named to the All-CCAA honorable mention list are pitchers Chris Short and Rafael Vasquez, third baseman Justin Manci and second baseman Colton Beatty.
Davis, who batted .399 for the season and .415 during CCAA play, was near the top of the CCAA in virtually every offensive category. He led Cal State Stanislaus in average (.399), slugging percentage (.657), on-base percentage (.457), runs scored (46), hits (79), RBI (49), triples (6), home runs (8) and total bases (130).
Medeiros enjoyed great senior season and was named to the first team as an utility player. The DH-catcher-first baseman batted .340 during 30 CCAA games and .310 overall with 14 doubles and 21 RBIs.
Short (2.34, 3-1) and Vasquez (3.16, 6-4) both had several outstanding starts. Manci batted. 323 with 16 doubles and drove in 32 runs with 14 stolen bases. Beatty batted .273 with 21 RBIs and just four errors at second base.
Cal State L.A. senior third baseman Daniel Duran was named Most Valuable Player while Cal Poly Pomona senior right-hander Geoff Broussard was a unanimous pick as Pitcher of the Year. San Francisco State catcher Mark Lindsay was tabbed Freshman of the Year and UC San Diego first-year head coach Marc Newman was named Coach of the Year.
