Stanislaus women fall short against East Bay

The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team fell to Cal State East Bay 67-50 in Hayward on Saturday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest.

The Warriors remain in seventh place on the CCAA standings with a record of 9-9 in conference play and 11-11 overall. After finishing 2-0 on the weekend, the Pioneers improve to 4-14 in the CCAA and 4-18 overall.

Katie Busi, Christin Gowan and Jeanette Rowe each recorded a team-high of 11 points.

Cal State East Bay took an early lead over the Warriors, but both teams battle back and forth during the first half. The largest lead of the game was by the Warriors at 12:46 after a shot by Gowan at the arch to put the Warriors up seven points on the Pioneers. Eventually Cal State East Bay battled back and finished the first half ahead of Stanislaus 32-28.

In the second half the Pioneers took their lead and ran with it, not allowing the Warriors to regain control of the game again.

Stanislaus shot a season-low from the foul line of 65 percent (13-for-20) and was only 17-for-53 from the floor.
Busi recorded another double-double with 11 rebounds to go along with her 11 points on the night. Lauren Godde also contributed to the Warriors efforts with eight points and nine rebounds.

Leading for the Pioneers was Sarah Finlay with a game high of 20 points. Marlene MacMillan led on the boards with nine rebounds.
