Stanislaus State Men's Basketball announced this week the signing of six new student-athletes to its 2025-26 roster. The group is described as diverse and talented, “bringing size, shooting, athleticism, and championship pedigree to the Warriors' program under the direction of head coach Paul Trevor,” the team said in a press release.

"We are extremely excited about this class," said Trevor. "Each of these young men brings something unique to the table, and we believe they all fit our culture of toughness, skill, and unselfish play. We can't wait to get to work with them."

The Warriors are looking to build on last season’s campaign, which saw them go 11-17 overall and 8-14 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Among the six players is a face familiar to many local basketball fans — Ross Widemon.

Widemon was electric in his short tenure at Turlock High School. The six-foot guard transferred from Modesto Christian to his hometown school before the last academic year, and made his presence immediately known.

After being cleared to play right before the start of Central California Athletic League games, Widemon scored in double figures each of his 15 outings. The senior scored over 20 points in 11 instances as he led the Bulldogs to a 6-4 record against conference opponents, including the pair of tiebreaking wins over rival Pitman. His best performance came in his debut for the Bulldogs, when he exploded for 36 points in a 73-34 win over Buhach Colony on Jan. 6.

Widemon’s efforts in a Bulldog uniform earned him All-CCAL First Team honors, and was again on the principal’s honor roll list, adding to the accolades at Modesto Christian, where he earned First Team All-League honors and was part of three Sac-Joaquin Section Championship teams.

"Ross is a quick guard with the ability to shoot the ball from deep,” Trevor said. “He falls in line with the many local talents we have had here at Stan State. We are excited for Ross to develop and be able to play in front of his friends and family in the Fitz."
