The Turlock High Bulldogs’ (7-4) season ended Friday night as they were shut out, 38-0 by Grant High (8-3) of Sacramento in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs.

Grant, playing in the D1 playoffs for the first time, has won six section titles in the past and in 2008, won the CIF State Championship Bowl Game in the open division. Last year, Grant lost in the SJS D2 championships.

Turlock senior linebacker Erick Parsons had 12 tackles in the loss. Bulldogs’ senior tailback Bryce Simmons tallied 51 yards on 11 carries, and junior running back Da’Shawn Holcombe had 40 yards on nine carries.

Grant was projected to win, 28-7, by MaxPreps Freeman Computer projections.

The game marked the second straight year the Bulldogs made it to the playoffs – and also the second straight first-round exit for Turlock High. Turlock’s last playoff win came in 2003, against Franklin of Stockton.
