The Turlock High swimming program turned in a dominant performance Friday evening, taking the trip across town to take both varsity competitions against rival Pitman High as the Central California Athletic League season rolled on.
Turlock’s girls won 120–50 while the boys claimed victory with a 107–63 triumph.
Summer Stricker led Turlock’s girls with victories in the 50 freestyle (26.61) and 100 freestyle (58.6), while also swimming on two winning relay teams. Teammate Kallie Parker added two individual wins for Turlock, taking the 100 butterfly (1:07.70) and 100 backstroke (1:08.53). Lou Bornmann was another key contributor for the Bulldogs, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:13.13) and the 200 individual medley (2:29.74) while playing a role in multiple relay victories. Sienna Haase added a win in the 500 freestyle in 6:02.14.
Bornman, Parker, Stricker and Daphne Lewis opened the girls relay competitions with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:04.80. Stricker, Haase, Lila Dougherty, and Faith Mailloux later captured the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.39. Dougherty, Bornman, Mailloux and Savanna Haase won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:03.77.
On the boys side, Jasper Reimers was a double winner for the Turlock boys, capturing both the 200 freestyle (1:53.9) and 50 freestyle (23.27), and later contributing to a pair of winning relay teams. Miles Hakanson secured first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.58 and was a relay-winning contributor, as was Jacob Packwood, who claimed an individual victory in the 100 butterfly (55.78).
In boys relay action, Hakanson, Packwood, Ethan Parker and Jacob Maggard led off with a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:45.88). In the 200 freestyle relay, Maggard, Reimers, Jaden Wu and Corbin Rocha-Long teamed up for a winning time of 1:34.10. Parker, Packwood, Reimers and Reagan Hust capped off the relays with first-place finish in the 400 freestyle with a time of 3:28.63.
Pitman High found success in several individual events. Isaac Norenberg had a strong showing for the Pride, capturing both the boys 200 individual medley (2:07.69) and 100 backstroke (56.16). Braden Silveira also contributed a win in the boys 500 freestyle (5:15.36). Meanwhile, Natalie Davis won the girls 200 freestyle (2:12.39).
Each program entered Friday’s dual coming off lopsided victories against conference opponents.
The Bulldogs, now 3-0, dismantled Gregori in each of the varsity team competitions, with the girls winning 126-40 and the boys winning by a 139-29 score.
The 2-1 Pride, meanwhile, rolled against Enochs, with the boys cruising 118-49 and the girls winning 112–58.
Pitman will look to get back in the win column Thursday in Modesto against Gregori, while Turlock will aim to stay perfect for at Modesto High that same day.
