Turlock Christian High is just one game away from the Sac-Joaquin Division V Section Championship after a 61-42 victory over Central Catholic High on Thursday.

The lady Eagles (25-3 overall) and Raiders (16-13 overall) played a heavily contested game in a seemingly even matchup. The two teams finished the first quarter with 12 points apiece and the Eagles led by only five points heading into halftime.

TC’s Halie Bergman put up 28 points in her return after a two week absence. Bergman’s offensive prowess was complimented by the play of Natalie Snyder who finished the game with 27 points. The bulk of Snyder’s points came from her six treys in the game. Bergman also recorded 14 rebounds behind Marly Burton’s 16.

After a 7-6 third quarter that went to TC, the Eagles distanced themselves from the Raiders in the fourth. TC’s defense held Central Catholic to a mere six points in the fourth quarter as its offense continued to roll, accumulating 26 points before the game was over.

The victory sets up a semi-final matchup between TC and fellow Southern League co-champions Ripon Christian. The Eagles and Knights (21-4 overall) met twice during the regular season with each team winning once. The last time the two teams met RC upset the Eagles, snapping an 11-game win streak and taking a piece of the Southern League title.

The Division V semi-final game will be played on Wednesday at Galt High School. The time has not yet been announced.
