Pitman High standout athlete Mya Sanchez has committed to Oregon State University to play soccer. The PHS junior had several DI schools recruiting her (Pac-12, WCC, Mountain West, Big West) but felt Oregon State was the perfect fit for her. In just two years of her high school career, Sanchez has already earned league first team selections for both years and league MVP honors her sophomore year. The Pride goalkeeper was also named the Journal’s Player of the Year after a memorable season that led to the Pitman winning their first ever CCAL title.

The national debate over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports became part of the of the 105th CIF State Track and Field Meet.
CLOVIS — Thousands of track and field athletes, coaches, families, and fans descended on Buchanan High School’s Veterans Memorial Stadium for the start of the 105th CIF State Track and Field Meet on Friday. And as the temperature reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the national debate over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports became the hottest topic of all in West Clovis.
