Pitman High went to Golden Valley to face off against the Cougars in a Central California Conference matchup on Friday night but fell 57-77.

After leading at the half, 33-32, the Pride were set for a close game, but the experience of the Cougars helped as they knocked down six threes in the third and outscored them 25-12 to take the lead—for good.

“We were leading at half but their experience took over in the third,” Pitman head coach Harvey Marable said. “They were relentless on the press and we didn’t get as comfortable in handling it; a combination of not being relaxed and their shooting affected us.”

Branson Garcia finished with a team-high 26 points and Cyle Williams tallied 14 for the game.

“The league is wide open, everybody has a loss now, everyone has something to play for,” Marable added.

Pitman will host Turlock High at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
