Turlock and Pitman High’s boys and girls competed in the section diving trials at Johansen on Thursday and Friday, with two moving on into today's finals.

Pitman’s Natasha Sondeno led all girls in first place and will be going into today's finals as she scored a 407.6, an All American qualifying time. Turlock girls’ Alex Schoeffling placed sixth, and will move on to the finals. Jewel Gafca missed the cut as she placed 17th, just out of contention for the finals which only the top 16 move on for the girls.

“I am extremely proud of her, I have seen what she is capable of and knew she could do well,” Pitman girls head coach Michaela Solario said of Sondeno. “She had a very good day and hopefully today she does even better.”

The Pride boys saw Riley Silva place second, moving into the finals, and Allan Quinn placed seventh for the day. For the Bulldogs boys, Juan Carrillo placed  12th out of 19. Only the top nine moved on to the finals.

The section diving finals will take place today at Johansen High School.
