Yellowjackets over Wolves

 

Hilmar High won its first game of the season Friday night on the road against Livingston High in a surprisingly hard fought match up.

 

The Wolves took an early lead midway through the first quarter with a 41-yard touchdown pass from quarterback CJ Avila to receiver Anthony Deole and rode it all the way to halftime. After making defensive adjustments, Hilmar hit the second half and kept the Livingston offense off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

CLOVIS — Thousands of track and field athletes, coaches, families, and fans descended on Buchanan High School’s Veterans Memorial Stadium for the start of the 105th CIF State Track and Field Meet on Friday. And as the temperature reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the national debate over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports became the hottest topic of all in West Clovis.
