Pitman High's Ian Roos and Turlock High's Chris Callahan have been picked to be part of a traveling team that will be heading to Southern California toward the end of June to participate in the selection process for USA Water Polo's Junior National Team. The two have been training with the USA Olympic Development Training Team under Drew Clute, also the Pitman High coach.

Roos, who has signed with Fresno Pacific, and Callahan, a junior, have been fighting for a spot on the team made up of Northern California players.

Turlock's Riddick notches no-hitter

Turlock High and Cal State Stanislaus-bound pitcher Morgan Riddick completed a no-hitter against Atwater High on Tuesday afternoon, finishing her outing with nine strikeouts in a 1-0 win with Alyssa Gonzalez catching in the Central California Conference game. The Bulldogs, however, committed six errors.

The score was tied at 0-0 in the bottom of the seventh at the Turlock High softball field when Jasmine Almongol got on base after getting struck by a pitch. Emily Peichoto moved up her teammate with a sacrifice bunt, followed by a Riddick single that put runners on first and third. Gonzales, the Turlock catcher, hit a ground ball to first that was misplayed, leading to the game's only score.

The win gives the Bulldogs a 4-4 CCC record.
