It was a solid day one for Turlock, Pitman and Hilmar varsity girls soccer at the Pitman Pride Cup tournament on Friday.

Pitman was able to draw with River City after a 1-1 final and topped Livingston 4-1 in the next game.

Hilmar lost to Modesto in their first game 3-1 then bounced back to defeat Linden 4-0 in their afternoon contest.

Turlock tied Gregori in a 1-1 decision in the morning game after going down 1-0 at the halfway mark.

Turlock finally got the game-tying score just 15 minutes into the second half to ensure the draw.

In the second game against Lodi, the Bulldogs of Turlock came out and won it 1-0 after a late score in the second half.

Thankfully the defense has been a huge factor for the Bulldogs' 2-0-1 start thus far.

“That is what kept us in the games, our defense,” said Turlock coach Temo Arteaga. “We are still trying new players at various positions and Jadyn Tubbs made good saves as well, her athleticism helped and we are doing much more and playing better as well and helping us out a lot.”

Turlock will next take on Kimball at 9 a.m. today (Saturday).

Pitman will take on Downey at 9 a.m. today.

“So far we been competing which is one of the things we talked about and in soccer its different, we just need to continue it as well since we potentially want to push as much as we can,” Arteaga added.
