Pitman High’s wrestling team had a short lived Christmas break, foregoing time to enjoy their gifts and eat leftovers over the weekend for a competition-ridden two days at the California Coast Wrestling Classic in Aptos, Calif.

The Pride joined 74 other schools in the tournament and walked away with a third place team finish, just behind Elk Grove and Ponderosa High with 181 points.

Six of Pitman’s grapplers finished in the top eight of their respective weight classes with one—160 pounder Logan Wolfley—finishing in first place.

Wolfley, Pitman’s senior leader, earned his first place finish and contributed 34 points to his team’s total with two pins, two major decisions, and one regular decision.

Other notable finishes included Nick Valadez’ third place finish in the 138 pound division and Eric Bajeron’s fourth place finish in the 285 pound division. Trevor Mattox, Gilbert Valadez, and Hayden Mattox also placed in the top eight with their respective sixth, seventh, and eight place finishes.

Pitman’s next stop will be in Sacramento on Saturday at the Dragon Duals.
