Pitman’s boys tennis team will be sending a total of six individuals to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Individual Tournament after a standout performance from the Pride in their final Central California Conference Tournament.

Andrew Rosero placed second in the individual finale on Thursday from Buhach Colony, while the No. 3 doubles squad for the Pride consisting of Marcos Mendoza and Jason Eissayou reached the final but lost, resulting in two runners-up.

Adrian Rosero of Pitman won his third-place match, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.

“Well historically if you get to send two it’s great and here we are sending six, whether that speaks the strength of the team we will see at the tournament,” said Pitman head coach Jeff Hayes. “You have some of the best players in California playing there.”

Just before doing so the Turlock Bulldogs and the Pride had to prove worthy in the doubles tourney to finish off the busy week.

Unfortunately for the ‘Dogs, only the No. 2 doubles team of Neema Rashidi and Warren Foote reached the second round, before losing to the runners-up in Mendoza and Eissayou.

Turlock’s No. 1 doubles team, which was also the top seed of the tournament, consisted of Jack Greene and Shayan Niakan but they lost in the first round.

Daniel Warda and Missael Vasquez, Turlock’s No. 3 doubles team, lost to Pitman’s Ross Wheeler and Joey Silveira.

Wheeler and Silveira lost in the second round in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

Pitman’s No. 1 doubles team of Lorenz Lat and Robbie Boster made a splash.

They went on to win their first two matches in straight sets before meeting teammates Mendoza and Eissayou.

Mendoza and Eissayou won, 6-3, 6-1 earning a berth in the finale where they lost to El Capitan’s No. 1 team.

In the singles finale, Andrew Rosero met Golden Valley’s Coen Lejwinse.

Despite a battle, Lejwinse won, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

“Andrew was playing real tough, that match could have gone either way. It was back and forth and that last set, Coen definitely had the upper hand,” said Hayes. “Looked like he was going to win, but Andrew stepped funny and had an injury timeout for a while and couldn’t recover.”

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Individual Tournament is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Ranch in Roseville.

“Anytime you go to play at that tournament, you just go and give your best and never know what will happen but that level of play gets steep real quick,” Hayes added.

Pitman will also host Tracy in the boys tennis Division-II Sac-Joaquin Section Tournament at 4 p.m. Monday.

Turlock will travel on the road as they take on Vacaville at 4 p.m. Monday.
