A bye week before the start of the Central California Athletic League season proved valuable for the Turlock High football program, as several players returned from injury and contributed to a dominant 43-6 win over Enochs High at Don Lanphear Stadium in Modesto.

It was the first victory for the Bulldogs in a month, as they achieved a 1-4 record during the incredibly difficult non-conference portion of the season.

Noel Garcia, who missed one game earlier this year due to injury, was the early tone-setter for the Bulldogs, intercepting a pass on the Eagles’ opening possession and running for an 11-yard touchdown moments later.

After the Eagles turned the ball over on downs on the ensuing possession, quarterback Scout Silva connected with wideout Jeremy Garcia for a 6-yard score. Silva had missed their last game against Clovis West with an ailment while Garcia had missed the two games prior to that, against Central of Fresno and Sonora.

Right before the end of the first quarter, Kaleb Guinn, who exited the team’s loss to Clovis West with, you guessed it, an injury, came out of the backfield for a 22-yard receiving touchdown to extend the Bulldog lead to 20-0, before they successfully cashed in on a 2-point conversion. Guinn reached the end zone again with a 6-yard rush in the third quarter. 

The lead was extended to 35-0 when Silva found Braiden Fuentes, who was also ruled out of their last game with injury, from 21 yards out. The two connected once more from 12 yards to make it a 42-0 game.

The lone Enochs score came on a 7-yard passing touchdown on the last play of the game.

The Bulldogs will be back at the very same venue next week to take on Gregori High, who are 1-5 after suffering a 45-8 loss to Downey High on Friday night in their league opener.
