Hannah Gong of Turlock High girls golf placed first at the 17th River Oaks Junior Match Play Championships at the River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres after outlasting Julian Salazar of Johansen High 6-4 in the finals.

Gong finished her last two rounds shooting 66s with a par-58, as she played against six golfers to win the championship.

The tournament began with 300 kids before 48 advanced to the finals.

Coming in third was Grant Plunkett of Johansen High in Modesto.
