Turlock, Pitman and Hilmar High's varsity boys’ golf teams were in full swing at Monday's Oakdale Tournament.

“We won the Merced Tournament last week with a score of 403. This week I brought my younger guys to give them experience so I didn't have my top six at Oakdale,” said Turlock head coach Jason Boswell.

Out of the 18 teams that competed, Turlock placed seventh overall with a team score of 467.

Oakdale took first with a team score of 394 while Ceres followed with a 438. Escalon took fourth with 455.

The best score of the day for Turlock came from Logan Lucero, who shot an 84 to take 16th in individual scores. Turlock's Paul Envia was the second-best score with a 91 while Josh McGinnis shot a 93.

Expect for Landon Magina, Dylan Cummings and Connor Old to lead the Bulldogs to hopefully another CCC title.

Pitman did not qualify as a team at Oakdale, but head coach Matt Jeans is anticipating his veteran group will quickly bounce back especially once league is in full swing.

“At this point of the season we are getting most of the guys in tournaments to get them comfortable so when league rolls around we have depth if we need it,” said Jeans.

Pitman's golf team currently has five seniors on the squad that return from last season.

“We have one junior and two sophomores that are all returning. We also have four incoming freshmen,” said Jeans.

Pitman's Nate Coutinho cracked the top 25 individual scores after shooting an 88. The second-best score for Pitman came from Steven Bishop who shot a 101.

“We are looking forward to the performance of Chandler Hedrick, Colton Lundquist and Nathaniel Coutinho, who are all seniors this year,” Jeans added.

Hilmar's top individual score came from Clay Harden who shot a 90.

“We tried. We are pretty new at golf. But we are going to have fun,” said Hilmar head coach Ty Pettigrew. “I have five guys out this year. One senior, two juniors and two sophomores. I expect all the kids to improve throughout the season. No expectations other than that.”

Hilmar will host the Yellowjacket invitational from the Diablo Golf Course beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Pitman's first league match will be at Rancho Del Rey against Atwater at 1 p.m. Thursday.

The first league match for Turlock will be at home at the Turlock Golf Country Club at 1 p.m. Thursday.
