Fellowship of Christian Athletes presents the first annual Bill Larson Memorial 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday at Stanislaus State.
Rex Wright will be running the event after the passing of longtime coordinator Bill Larson.
“It’s a testimony to a guy’s passion for his life pursuit, which is youth basketball and to serve the Lord and feels like a long passion,” said Wright about the event.
Larson ran the 3 on 3 for over 24 years, reaching 4 to 5,000 kids.
The event will also include interviews with Stanislaus State players past and present.
“This provides them with an opportunity for first-class competition in a sport that they love and opportunity to meet people in the community and rub elbows with Stanislaus basketball players,” said Wright, "all of high character and integrity and modeling relationship of faith and provides opportunity for kids and youth pastors to connect with kids through outreach events and it’s gonna be a great day.”
Junior high boys and girls compete first with a start at 8 a.m. but need to check in at 7 a.m.
High school boys and girls check in at 10 a.m. and start right after junior high concludes.
Junior high girls and boys are $35 per team.
Register at Centralvalleyfca.org or call Rex Wright at 535-1304.
