The Turlock American East 12-year-olds had opportunities to score but just couldn’t capitalize against Pacifica in the Section 6 Little League Tournament of All-Stars in Linden. Pacifica took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added two more in the third to pull away. But there were some highlights for American East: Marcus Lopez went 2-for-3 and Josh Cardenas and Anthony Moreno had a hit each.
American East 3, Porterville 1
Sunday, July 19
In this do-or-die situation, the Turlock American East All-Stars prevailed. And they did so with powerful at-bats. Anthony Moreno went 1-for-1 with two walks, David Lazar and Cody Cornell added a hit apiece and Marcus Lopez finished with a 2-for-3 day. American East scored two runs in the first inning and once more in the third.
American East 11, Linden 0
Monday, July 20
The Turlock American East All-Stars knew it was important to come out strong, especially with the thought of going home early and unsuccessfully defending the Section 6 title under coach Phil Salazar. Dominic Jack smashed out a grand slam to give his team a 4-0 edge. That was followed by four more runs in the second inning, with American East finishing off Linden in the sixth with three more scores. Jack finished with four RBIs, while David Lazar and Josh Cardenas had a hit each. Marcus Lopez and Cody Cornell each finished with a two-run blast in the game. American East also had stellar performances from the pitchers, as Cristian Ceja, Daniel Romeo and Cornell combined for nine strikeouts, giving up just two walks and no hits.
Modesto 4, Bullard 0
Saturday, July 18
The Modesto Babe Ruth 16-18 baseball team, which has a number players from the Turlock area, started off well in its Central California State Tournament at Davis Park in Modesto. Modesto scored two runs apiece in the second and sixth innings with Ian Fregosi (2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles and an RBI) and Hunter Adrian (2-for-3 with two runs) having big games. Eddie McGrath went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Hayden Maurice went 1-for-1 with an RBI. Nathan Gonzalez threw a complete game with 13 strikeouts, giving up one hit and one walk.
Modesto 11, San Benito 2

In this winners’ bracket game, the Modesto Babe Ruth 16-18 baseball team’s scoring was consistent. Modesto scored one run in the second inning, two in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth. Colton Batty went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and three RBIs. Eli Davis was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, a double with three walks and an RBI. Hunter Adrian went 3-for-5 with two runs, a double and two RBIs. Ian Fregosi went 2-for-4. Vince Roberts went five innings on the mound and had five strikeouts, giving up three hits and two walks. Dylan Werner came in the seventh, holding the opponent to no hits and one walk.

Emily Gomes won with a score of 52 in the first flight, and Ruth Fortado came in second at 55. Joan Kappmeier finished with a 56 in the second flight, followed by Diane Arakelian with a 64.
