TJHS track ends season on high note

The Turlock Junior High track and field team ended its season at the Stanislaus County on Saturday, highlighted by 11 champions, seven second place finishers and 13 third place finishers.

The 2013 season also saw three new school records set. Cerah Moren broke Kelsee Derr's 8th grade girls 200m hurdle record with a time of 31.09 seconds. Moren also set a new 8th grade girls record in the discus with a throw of 107 feet, 9 inches.

The 60 meter shuttle hurdles relay team also set a new 8th grade girls record with a time of 41.2 seconds. That team was made up of Moren, Jessica Bettencourt, Serena Walls and Marlowe Embry.

TJHS top finishers at the Stanislaus County meet:

7th grade girls

70 yard hurdles: 1st place, Grace Willming (11.31 seconds); 3rd place tie, Alyssa Flores and Makenna Boutelle (11.77)

1600m: 2nd place, Alexis Medeiros (6:24.8); 3rd place, Alyssa Felix (6:31.75)

100m: 1st place, Kishauna Mavis (12.97)

800m: 3rd place, Bianca Garcia (2:42.82)

200m: 1st place, Kishauna Mavis (28.46)

4X400m relay: 2nd place, (4:52.16)

Long jump: 3rd place, Kishauna Mavis (13 feet, 3 inches)

 

8th grade girls

70 yard hurdles: 1st place, Cerah Moren (10.30); 2nd place, Jessica Bettencourt (11.03); 3rd place, Serena Walls (11.12)

4X100 relay: 1st place, Jessica Bettencourt, Zoey Bravo, Serena Walls, Cerah Moren (53.57)

4X400 relay: 1st place, Alyssa Nunes, Serena Walls, Jessica Bettencourt, Cerah Moren (4:35.87)

Long jump: 3rd place, Marlowe Embry (13 feet, 9 inches)

Shot put: 2nd place, Chrisee Carlson (30 feet, 5 inches)

Triple jump: 1st place, Michelle Griffin (31 feet, 2 inches)

Discus: 1st place, Cerah Moren (100 feet, 5 inches)

High jump: 3rd place, Marlowe Embry (4 feet, 6 inches)

70 yard hurdles: 1st place, Samuel Martinez (10.62); 3rd place, Jesus Estrada (11.14)

70 yard hurdles: 3rd place, Isaiah Marable (9.78)
