Turlock boxer Sandra Tovar defeated Junior Olympics silver medalist Angela Murillo in Fresno on Saturday via unanimous decision in the 101pound weight class of the 13-14 girls division.

Tovar, representing Delhi High S.A.L 51/50 Boxing Club, and Murillo, representing Top Contender Boxing Gym out of Riverside, fought earlier in the year at the Junior Olympics tournament where Tovar lost to Murillo to earn a bronze medal.

On Saturday, Tovar turned the tide on her opponent in the rematch with first and third round victories. The pair will meet in the ring for a third fight on Nov. 14 at the Beautiful Brawlers Tournament in Pacifica. Tovar will compete before then at the National P.A.L Tournament in Oxnard from Sept. 27 – Oct. 3.
