Turlock fighters Sandra Tovar and Francisco Madrigal each picked up wins against their respective opponents, Mariah Malendrez of 51Fifty Boxing Club and James Hampton of Bullpen Boxing Club, at the 51Fifty Fight Night Dinner Show in Livingston on Friday.

Tovar and Malendrez fought second on the five-fight card in a three-round bout that went to a decision. Tovar, who entered the ring at 110 pounds, managed to best the 115-pound Malendrez with the help of a sharp left hook to extend her amateur boxing record to 25-5.

Madrigal and Hampton closed the show as Madrigal looked to hand Fresno’s Hampton his first loss. Entering the ring as respective weights of 151 pounds and 154 pounds, the two traded hard shots through three rounds until the judges awarded the win to Madrigal to extend his amateur boxing record to 10-4. Hampton’s record fell to 6-1.

Tovar will receive minimal rest before her next foray into the ring as she is set to compete in the 2017 Junior Olympic Championships starting June 26 in Charleston, West Virginia.

Madrigal’s next fight has yet to be scheduled.
