Emerging local artists with two different professions have combined their work to create a music video that highlights and promotes both of their careers.

Cameron Bowman, an up and coming hip hop star that has been producing music videos and performing local shows for seven years, heard about the success of local MMA fighter Joseph Ramirez and six months later had produced a song and music video with Ramirez as the focus.

“I was happy to do it,” said Ramirez. “There’s been a lot of positive feedback from it, and Cameron was so easy to work with.”

Bowman wrote the song, “Never Back Down,” after witnessing the hard work, dedication and never back down mentality that Ramirez trains with everyday.

“I wrote the song directly linked to Joseph; I saw him doing a lot of big things around here,” said Bowman. “I knew our music was spreading and his career was as well… So [the video] was kind of a win-win for both of us.”

Never Back Down is a song that was written to motivate and inspire, and Ramirez believes it is doing just that.

“I love the song; it motivates me every day,” said Ramirez. “Hopefully this brings more publicity for Cameron, he’s a great artist and I hope more people see that.”

The music artist complimented Ramirez in his line of work as well as the kind of person he is that reflects through his career.

“He’s such a humble guy,” said Bowman. “All he talks about his family, gym partners and where he comes from.”

Ramirez is undefeated in his six fights and is ranked second in the state for Amateur Light Heavyweights.

“I started fighting about three or four years ago,” said Ramirez. “I knew in the back of my mind I needed to compete and make something bigger of my life. I’m looking forward to my pro debut next year.”

Bowman is managed by his brother, Clayton Bowman, and attributes their success to him—adding that his brother is the best manager he could have and that he would not want anyone else by his side in this journey.

“I plan to keep making videos, put on a couple more shows a year with local hip hop artists and just help the music scene grow in Turlock,” said Cameron Bowman.
